Amazon On-Time Delivery Rate (OTDR) cases

On-Time Delivery Rate measures whether seller-fulfilled orders arrive by the promised date. We trace the late orders back to their cause, whether carriers, handling time or delivery settings, and build a Plan of Action around the fixes.

What this notice means

OTDR applies to orders you ship yourself, not to FBA. Amazon compares the delivery date with the estimated delivery date shown to the customer. Amazon's Order Performance policy sets a target for OTDR, and accounts that fall below it can lose selling privileges. Check the current target and measurement window in Account Health, because they can change.

Late deliveries usually come from settings that promise too much: handling times that are too short, shipping templates with transit times your carrier cannot meet, or service levels that do not match the destination. An appeal that only blames the carrier is weak. One that shows the template, carrier and process changes is strong.

Common causes

  • Handling times set shorter than your team can achieve
  • Shipping templates with transit times your carrier cannot meet
  • Carrier delays at peak periods without adjusted delivery promises
  • Tracking that does not show delivery scans
  • Stock held at a supplier or 3PL that ships late

Evidence that carries weight

  • An export of the late orders with promised and actual delivery dates
  • Carrier scan history for a sample of affected orders
  • Before and after screenshots of shipping templates and handling times
  • Agreements or updated service levels with carriers or 3PLs
  • A written daily dispatch procedure

How we approach this case

  1. Pull the order dataWe separate late orders by carrier, region, service level and day of dispatch to see the pattern.
  2. Find the causeWe identify whether the problem is the promise (settings) or the performance (dispatch or carrier).
  3. Confirm the fixesTemplate, handling time and carrier changes are made and documented before the appeal.
  4. Write the Plan of ActionA short Plan of Action with numbers from your own data and the controls that keep OTDR on target.

Mistakes that weaken the appeal

  • Blaming the carrier without changing the settings that made the promise
  • Appealing before shipping templates are corrected
  • Moving every order to FBA in the appeal without a plan for the transition
  • Ignoring related metrics such as Valid Tracking Rate

What we prepare

You receive

  • Written diagnosis of the notice and the policy or agreement it cites
  • Root cause statement drawn from your own records
  • Evidence gap list and document consistency check
  • Plan of Action written for Amazon Seller Performance
  • Submission guidance and follow-up reply drafts

What we cannot do

  • Reinstate the account ourselves: only Amazon can make that decision
  • Supply, edit or source documents, or describe fixes that have not happened
  • Help you open a new account or get around enforcement

FAQs

Does OTDR apply to FBA orders?

No. OTDR measures seller-fulfilled orders. FBA delivery is handled by Amazon. If you sell both ways, the appeal only needs to address the orders you ship.

What is Amazon's target for On-Time Delivery Rate?

Amazon publishes the target in its Order Performance policy and in Account Health. Check the current figure there, because targets and measurement windows can change.

Can I appeal if the carrier caused the delays?

Yes, but the reviewer expects you to have changed what you control: handling times, transit settings, carrier choice or service level. Evidence of those changes carries more weight than carrier excuses.

How quickly does OTDR recover?

It is measured over a rolling period, so improvements show gradually. Your Plan of Action should explain how you will monitor the metric while it recovers.

Are you affiliated with Amazon?

No. We are an independent case preparation service with no special access to Amazon and no internal contacts. Every submission goes through the official route Amazon provides, from your own account.

Can you guarantee reinstatement?

No one can honestly guarantee an Amazon decision. We control the quality of the diagnosis, the evidence and the written response, and we tell you at the free review stage if we think the case is weak.
